Jason Bristol sounded the alarm bell for American workers at the 71st Annual Meeting of the Labor and Employment Relations Association

CRK Partner Jason Bristol sounded the alarm bell for American workers at the 71st Annual Meeting of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) on June 16, 2019.   Bristol discussed Gig companies’ campaign to upend worker classification law as we know it.  He explained how Gig companies have launched a multijurisdictional campaign to rewrite the rules for worker classification.  To date, eight states have passed Gig company carve-outs to enable the companies to more easily categorize their workers as independent contractors as opposed to employees.  This results in numerous risks and costs being shifted onto workers, consumers, and the general public.
