James B. Rosenthal is a native of Cleveland. He graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with distinction in English, and after a stint in the corporate world at Doubleday Publishing Company and US Sprint Communications, he attended Georgetown University Law Center, graduating cum laude in 1990. He has had a hand in some of the most prominent litigation of recent years, from the BCCI scandal of the early 1990s to the Enron bankruptcy.

Mr. Rosenthal has successfully represented both individuals and institutions in contract, fraud, shareholder, intellectual property and other cases involving financial injury. As a founding partner of Cohen Rosenthal & Kramer LLP, he represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of complex commercial disputes.

He is a member of the Ohio, District of Columbia and Virginia bars, and is admitted to practice before numerous U.S. District Courts, the Sixth, Eighth and District of Columbia Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has served on the boards of local arts organizations, including Apollo's Fire, The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, the Cavani String Quartet, and the Cleveland Music School Settlement, and has been a member of the Judge John M. Manos Inn of Court since 2000. He was recently appointed Adjunct Professor of Law at Case Western Reserve University Law School teaching Business Associations.
